Visiting Old Haunts

This dress is made from sweatshirts, it's another from the line called "Sample" that I bought in Japan. The material and shape are so interesting.
Apparently, everyone at the Puyallup Farmer's Market thought the same as well because I really can't remember the last time I got stared at so much... It was strange going back to Puyallup; that was the town my family used to live in so many years ago. We drove down the street we used to live on, past our very house, and continued on the path I took to school every day. The old school building was completely gone though and replaced with new unfamiliar structures. How unsettling to see the place of some formative years and dramatic events just wiped away! I had gone through a 6.8 earthquake in that structure, not to mention the usual dramas of junior high. In about another week we will go back to Puyallup again, this time for the fair, I trust that has not changed too much...
This is still probably my favorite jacket though I don't wear it nearly enough. The story on how I bought it is enough to make me smile.
Outfit 1 details: dress- Sample, shoes- Blowfish via Urban Outfitters, belt- secondhand, bag- Ruche
Outfit 2 details: jacket- vintage via Hell's Kitchen Flea Market, shoes- Urban Outfitters, skirt- Forever 21, tights- supermarket

P.S. Don't forget to leave me some comments on the Teen Vogue site.

the dress seems like you look a little bit more sexy in it, maybe on the right side of your body, I can't see perfect on the photos but a good comb. of yours and I feel like you have loosen(?)weight comparing the time I've started to read your blog which is around the end of may 08.

I would be staring too but that's only because I find it really great and I think it looks stunning on you!

I love clothes that have certain memories 'sewn' into them.

ABout your comment: I fell in love with Daria when I saw her Prada movie. I still watch it every time I feel the need for some inspiration, it's beautiful!

Is this sample line the same one, you've mentioned before, with the dress made from old dress shirts. If it is, I seriously need to get my hands on their stuff. It's all so fantastic!

The dress is pretty! Maybe you got stared at so much because it's out of the ordinary for a region used to a uniform of polar fleece and Gore-Tex. (And hey, I'm speaking as someone from the Pacific Northwest!)

The dress is gorgeous, it has a very luxury vibe to it. I hate seeing old buildings full of memories making room for soulless modern structures. The old cinema in my home town, which had two tiny screens and was full of character has become a hotel recently :(

That first dress is truly gorgeous.

that cut on that dress is divine.

you pull things off so perfectly. seriously.

wow, that dress is a very cool shape. Looks wonderful on you.

RE: your Puyallup visit. I know just what you mean. My junior high was completely remodeled beyond recognition and my high school just "moved" locations and the old campus is becoming something else. odd. It messes with the mind a little but I suppose we just have to keep our memories and recognize things change.

This dress is a beauty! And now I see what you mean about us having similar bags - I was just about to compliment you on yours when I realized it looked kind of familiar, and remembered your comment:)))

My high school building is more than 150 years old and very hmmm dramatic - doesn't seem like it is going away, though:)

i know what you mean about going back to your old home. me and my mum drove to see what the house i grew up in looked like now...it was so weird. i hated the fact people have changed things like, parts of the front garden or silly things like the hedge was different. you have these memories, and when you see its different, it just feels weird.

i am in love with the jacket, amazing. :)

I have been reading your blog for a few months now, but I've only recently dug up enough courage to start commenting and create a blog of my own. You are an inspiration to me and I love seeing the way you piece together outfits to compliment your body. I am also a petite young girl and I often run into trouble when trying to dress my body, especially since I am 22 but look about 16. I love this dress and the way you carry yourself in it.

xo,
Lauren

p.s. here is the link to my new blog, if you ever have a chance to look it over I would love some tips on how to improve it. thanks!

It's amazing how much a place could even change in a month! It is very unnerving... I feel like the world is moving too fast and I can't catch up!

The dress is crazy cool, just like JAPAN!

I love that first dress - it has a lovely shape to it.

Love Nasha's new tattoos too - she's a very trendy little labbit! :)

I've been thinking about the hair colour and identity thing and you're right part of it is because I choose it. But another part of it is that I associate being blonde with a time in my life that was really fun and carefree - there are good memories to go with being blonde. Maybe it also has to do with the fact that my hair lightens a bit in the sun - if I have highlights maybe I fool my subconscious into thinking I've been in the sun! ;)

It's funny to see such familiar place names on your site. I haven't been to the Puyallup fair since I was a kid but given the stares I got in Walla Walla for wearing something besides jeans & tee, I imagine I might experience the same.
