Let's Talk About Clothes, Baby

Creativity sometimes comes in a subtle changes, for example: I'm wearing my Ivy Blue dress backwards to show off my tattoos. I've been intentionally keeping them covered around my mother since she loathes "intentional scars" as she puts it. However, I love them so I decided one day in a long while wouldn't be too terrible to have them show.
Outfit 1 details: dress- Ivy Blue, skirt- secondhand, shoes- Urban Outfitters
I finally visited the thrift store on this military base and stumbled across this denim dress for $2.50. I'm addicted already to it. I found a pair of fingerless gloves online and I'm still trying to figure out how to wear them, but they are love.
Outfit 2 details: dress- secondhand, jacket- vintage via Hell's Kitchen Flea Market, socks- Thank You Mart, shoes- Urban Outfitters, gloves- Revolve Clothing
P.S. Can you tell? I've gotten contact lenses for the first time, I'm testing them out these days.

Ooh, congrats on the contacts. Hope they feel good.

you look gorgeous! Hope the contacts work out well for you - if not, you still look great in your glasses ;]

You look great with contacts. I have really dry eyes and find them impossible to keep in (admittedly, haven't tried the latest wave of "anyone can wear them" contacts cuz they're $$$ and you can't exactly give them back if the don't work!). At any rate, lovely photos, lovely new look.

I love your clothes!

of course contacts will make your life easier when you are used to it(and you look good without glasses), but still wear your eyeglasses some time because they are already a good part of your style!

I love your glasses, but you do look pretty nice without them. I like the color schemes of both outfits.

i've wanted a denim dress for far too long...i love how you've made it cold-weather-appropriate with those adorable knee socks!

The blue dress looks as if it was made for you!

I hope the contacts are working out well for you. I had so much trouble putting them in and taking them out at first, but now it's all good.

Tip for getting them out if you've been wearing them for too long and they feel stuck to your eyes when you take them out: Put some eyedrops in at 10-minute intervals. After 30 minutes, slide the lens around your eye so it's lubricated by the eyedrops, and it should come out easily. It's a lot easier than trying to get them off repeatedly with no success.

Wearing contacts certainly gives you a little option in styling yourself. That being said, your glasses are fantastic so don't be putting them in a corner anytime soon! That skirt in the first outfit picture is just divine.

i love love love the fingerless yellow gloves! where online did you find them?

$2.50??! A steal and it looks fab. Happy Friday :) Would you be interested in exchanging links?

congrats with the contacts! However, you look very good with glasses as well! Now you can decide what you want to wear, and that is very fortunate! By the way, i love the blue dress at tird/fourth picture! with the yellow(!!!!) gloves: fantastic!

Oh my, the second dress has just stolen my heart. This has to be the prettiest blue in the world! You've played so well with the color, balancing it with the darker stockings.

I know exactly how that is. I have some out of the norm piercings that my mother isn't a fan of. She's seen the ones in my ears and had expressed disapproval so when I got dermal anchors around my navel, I never told her and I've never showed her. A year and a half later, I'm not sure if she knows about them yet. haha

And I can't wait to see your equestrian post - I totally forgot to include cowboy hats!

That blue dress is absolutely lovely - i can understand the new addiction to it! Also contacts - looking great! But glasses are also lovely - I have both myself and like having the options depending on the day/outfit.

i really like your first outfit, that dress works really well backwards. showing of you tattoos is unexpected and quirky and looks just really cool.
Best of luck with the contacts:-)

You look very nice without glasses. I hope your contacts work out. On the other hand, I love your frames, too.

I wear glasses but not all the time. I was thinking of giving contacts a go soon and maybe I just will! I really love the blue dress too.

i love your tattoos! i've been brainstorming a few for myself but i haven't found anything that sticks. i'm glad my mom doesn't mind tattoos. =)

Not to sound all gushy, but I swear you're getting prettier with each post! And I love that blue of your dress in your second outfit, so pretty!

You know I quite like thinking of tattoos as 'intentional scars'. Not in a negative way but in a fabulous way. I love your tattoos. I think they are lovely and feminine and they are probably my most favourite tattoos that I have ever seen.

light blue? gorgeous!
It's hard to pull off such a light color!

your contacts look good! i love the different blues with your skin tone. where are you trying to study abroad? i hope the visa goes through ok!

OMG! i just started wearing contacts and they feel like a relief from wearing glasses forever and ever. but anyway, i absolutely love that cargo jacket. i plan to purchase one but for cheap or maybe one from urban outfitters!
comment my blog please!

I really like the black blouse you had on in the first outfit, the sleeves are divine.

Brilliant outfits, you look amazing as always :D

And hooray for contacts - I should really look into buying them but I'm a little scared that they'll irritate my eye and that having perfect vision will be a little jarring. I'm used to seeing everything slightly blurry and I kinda like it that way hehe.

copperoranges said...

you're gonna punch me in the face for saying this ... but ... you look much older without the glasses.

that last photo is brilliant. sometimes the looks you give the camera distract me from looking at your outfits. it's funny how fashion blogs teach you how to model, kind of.

Gorgeous outfits and cute tattoos! That denim dress is too adorable. After looking through all of your posts on chictopia, I bought 5 pairs of knee-high socks today. When I got home, I realized I didn't look nearly as good as you do in socks :(

mmmm nice contacts! makes your eyes pop! (in a good way, not a crazy bug-eyed way)

Love!

Blue skirt is just cute, looks perfect with overknees. And contacts is the most comfortable thing in the world- I wear them almost always.

how are you liking your contacts? you should get used to it pretty quickly, reminds me of the time i sat in the optical shop for close to two hours learning how to put them on.

Songy said...

Great to see your face sans spectacles. I love that last shot of you looking ever so (subtly) sexy. :)

Your tatoos are very cute....
I love that necklace as well. Where did you score that?

yep, i know that the show would have been fab to attend (although I wouldn't be able to afford any realistically)

Songy said...

good luck with teenvogue thing as well. I really liked that shot of you. :)

Congrats on the transition to contacts. I started wearing mine when I was in 7th grade. Since then my eyesight has worsened quite a bit. I have extremely dry eyes so I am constantly putting drops in my eyes, but I find having the option of wearing glasses or contacts a necessity. Both are an accessory, or lack there of for that matter.

I have a tattoo that I am also constantly hiding around family. I understand that just because I like something, not everyone else will. However, its difficult because it is your body and your design. Especially since your tattoos are in no way offensive. I am willing to appease my grandmother the most, because at her age she's just never going to change. Anyways, what I really want to say is good for you for showing them off just a little bit even when you know your mother doesn't exactly approve!

cheers.

My mum hate tattoos too, even though I really like them (got a tiny one just under my neck). Love the designs of yours though so show them off and show them proud!

Tavi said...

You look so pretty!

I love the army jacket, sweeeet. I don't think my mom would like me getting tattoos either, mainly because we're Jewish and there are laws about it and blahblahblah, but yours are cool. I think I'd be too chicken to ever get one though, I won't even get my ears pierced!

fleur_delicious said...

oh my goodness, THAT'S what it is! I saw a recent post of yours in w_r and just COULDN'T figure out why your eyes looked different, had to come catch up on your blog to see if you were doing some kind of makeup differently or what. Isn't it funny how some people just don't notice things like that? They'll be aware that something is different with your face, but won't be able to put a finger on the exact change. Huh.

Looks good! Do you like them? I tried contacts for a while, but gave up. I'm back to being blind when I can't be bothered to find and/or put on my glasses.

Eek your clothes are so completely covetable. Just had a scouring of your blog and needless to say you have are a wicked style bunny (or would horse be more appropriate :P )You look good with or without glasses so pffft, rock whichever you choose!

yay contacts! I love my glasses very dearly but I also love the option of wearing contacts. Sadly my tear function isnt best suited to contacts so I only wear thm once or twice a week, but it's still nice. I love the shape of your eyes, which I have only now noticed :)

Shen-Shen said...

Your tattoos are awesome, to be honest with you. I don't think my mother and I would be on speaking terms if I got any "intentional scars", haha.
