Considering the political climate the United States is in at the moment, the best old film that can be recommended is:
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. If you haven't seen this film, you really must. A good man (James Stewart) makes it to the US Senate where he faces corruption and as he tries to stand up against it he is crushed. However, despite overwhelming odds Mr. Smith does not back down. A story of David and Goliath with the law being the small stone to strike the giant down. Honestly, this is one political film that will make you want to cry, but also cheer.
I stumbled across these ads for Harvey Nichols the other day. I'm afraid I've never heard of Harvey Nichols before, but Wallace and Gromit (well, Gromit anyway) are near and dear to my heart. Even if you have never seen their adventures on film, surely these ads will make you smile. So clever, and Lady Torrington is wearing one of my favorite Alexander McQueen dresses!

I love Jimmy Stewart and I love that movie! Haven't seen it in years. I did just rewatch The Philidephia Story though which is also very good.

Wallace and Gromit are great! Harvey Nics is a department store similar to N.Marcus/Saks etc. There are only a few of them in the UK. I love the fact that they are using W&G to advertise the opening of the Bristol store as W&G were created in Bristol.

I love Wallace and Gromit too! It's been ages since I've seen it and now I'm thinking of all those scenes with the cute little bunnies. Maybe you should watch it with Nasha lol. Seeing the other bunnies might make her less lonely. :)

Aaah Harvey Nicks is a department store which I know is in London (and very pretty too) but is in at least two other major cities as well. Sort of like Harrods, or Selfridges... I don't really know the american equivalents.

I love Mr. Smith Goes To Washington! Harvey Nick's has like the most amazing window display's in the world at their London store. It's a department store for the really wealthy and just stepping in there is enough to make you feel shabby, but the displays are really creative and beautiful and funny...

I remember when we got wallace and grommit toys in corn flakes, and my brother and I bought seven boxes so that we could have all the different characters- what we didn't realise was- that there were bound to be repeats.
When I was in London for 3 years, I only when to Harvey Nichs once... I didn't like it cause it was so tiny. Selfridges is wayyyy better!

Harvey Nicks is terrible by me, it's small and so feels like the sales assistants are watching your every move! Very expensive though but those Wallace and Gromit ads are great!
I really liked Mr. Smith when I saw it. I was young and expected a cheesy feel-good fare, but I was quite impressed.
Wallace and Gromit! I love them. Never thought that Wallace could ever wear anything other than those dowdy sweater vests, let alone look sharp, but they managed to pull it off while keeping that goofy grin. The ads are awesome.

we have a Harvey Nichols in my hometown, Edinburgh, but I have never seen those charming little adverts before, they are wonderful! And anyone who appreciates a good bit of Wallace and Gromit is good in my books, ha ha, I only recently found your blog through the lovely Dapper Kid's comments and love to visit every so often for a good read :)
considereing, i'd say "the best man" may be more appropriate, what the conventions and all... ah, and wallace and grommit were my babysittors for a few years. good times.
