Here There Be Monsters

I spend far too much time on the Internet as I had fun yesterday reading about the colossus squid (larger than the giant squid) and okapi (an animal that is a cross between a zebra and giraffe and previously believed to not exist). I stumbled across both these topics while looking for more information on the origins of various mythological creatures. For example narwhal tusks were used to continue the idea that unicorns existed (aren't narwhals magical enough looking?). The cyclops legends might stem from elephant skulls and griffins from pterodactyl skeletons. However, sometimes creatures believed to be mythological are found to exist, like the okapi. It makes one wonder about truth, myth, history and such...theclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoottheclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoottheclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoottheclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoot

The Internet is also good for keeping track of one's wardrobe, I must say! When I pulled out this floral dress and knew exactly how I wanted to wear it with my new shoes, I was curious about how I had worn it before. You see, it is one of my favorite dresses and I have worn it SO much, but each time I try to change something. So I dug through my archives and found tons of images of it. Here are a few of my favorites. This dress has been well loved.theclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoottheclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoottheclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoottheclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoottheclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoottheclotheshorse, the, clothes, horse, daily, style, fashion, personal, blog, outfit, secondhand, vintage, floral, one, dress, many, ways, wear, grass, photo shoot

Oooo, I like it very much with the green pea coat, and the long socks.
I have dresses that I visit again and again and always manage to come up with new ways to wear them.

That's the great thing about blogging about your own look, because later on you can look back and think, "Oh, I wore it like that before!" I love how you can wear the dress so many ways and it never looks old.

Oh I love how you've stretched a single dress into so many genius outfits! It takes a truly gifted dresser to do so.

I wrote about dresses today too. I love when blogs are in tune like that... great minds eh??

I really, really like it belted. But I also love the latest version mainly because you incorporated the red accents so well and played with them while leaving the dress serve as a background/canvas.

As for vacations, I feel your craving, as I had not had a vacation for almost 2 years prior to last month. But better be busy and overwhelmed with life than be deprived of its versatility.

You struck a cord with the unicorn mentioning. I love unicorns.

Last but not least, would you like to exchange links? I have been getting more and more hooked up on your posts.

You're right about that, it is a great way to keep track of your wardrobe. It definitely helps to see what things you like and don't like about the things you wear. I used to find an outfit that I loved, then wear it out over and over again. Ever since I started taking outfit photos, I've tried to stop doing that.

Sorry for the comment spam, but I forgot to mention how much I adore your red shoes.
I'm going to add you to my blogroll, cos I love your posts.

what a great idea for a post! they always do things like this in mags and yet never really seem to pull off the different-ness of the looks quite as well as you. it's great to see it put into everyday-girl action! :)

Yes! Unicorns and narwhal horns! Do you know about this:

http://www.littlemollycake.com/mollycake.php/2008/06/17/in-the-inbox

Scroll to the bottom of that post... I will try to find the article that it originally came from. Apparently, the one horn is a rare deformity that could have also been responsible for the myth of unicorns when seen on horses. Magical, indeed.

Also, I love the outfit. Duh. You are good at clothes.

I really love the way you have worn it with the big scarf, and the other times when you've worn it with long socks.
The thought of a colossus squid scares the whatsits out of me, I am going on holiday soon and have been obsessively watching shark programs, now I to worry about GIANT SQUIDS!!! I think I'm going to faint!

You stylist genius, you. Each pic boasts a completely different look but with the same dress. I like it!

Haha I spend a lot of time looking up random things on the Internet too. When I was in elementary school, I used to enter random search terms in my CD-ROM encyclopedia (remember those?) and read whatever popped up.

I love this dress! My fave look is with the socks and tights and belt in the last picture.

I'd almost forgotten that narwhals were real... Or still around. They do seem a little like they wouldn't exist, eh?

Hmm it's hard but my fave would be you in the cardigan by the fireplace. And it's pretty unusual but i think the watch really popped and made the outfit unique this time. I love it.

Lovely dress and I really like the last ensemble from the old pictures. Such a cute belt.

One's blog is a really good way to be inspired by oneself, like "I don't know how to wear this dress, but I'll check out my own blog for ideas!" It's reaaly smart.

Your dress is so cute, and so are your shoes!

I love the way you've casually draped the scarf around your neck...

I love the many different ways that you worked the dress! They all look so different but are all true to your own style...

Narwhals are pretty much the most amazing creature ever. I fell in love with them in the fourth grade.

What a great dress, and you really showcase how versatile a single item like this classic can be. I love how you wear that red scarf in the first photo. There really needs to be some website that details how to artistically drape scarfs!
