I've waxed in-eloquent before about the various
meanings behind flowers, but at the moment I am passionate about wild flowers (or "native species" as scientists would prefer them to be called). I've noticed that I have a great tendency to talk about the weather and the season and how both of these seem to affect my mood as much as my wardrobe. I'm beginning to think that I'll always need to live in a place that has all the seasons, because I need the change. However, when you have
rainbow showers trees in Hawaii (the petals of the flowers on this tree shift colors through the year), do you really need full-blown seasons?

Outfit details: dress(worn as a top)- some shop in Japan, skirt- American Apparel, belt- secondhand, shoes- American Eagle
P.S. I'm updating my links today and hopefully will get around to every one's site with equal punctuality.

I don't know the meanings behind it, but my favorite flower is certainly peony.
That skirt from AA is really nice, everytime I see it I want it!
Edit: I just searched on google for peony and I discovered many interesting things (for example, I didn't know it's the state flower of Indiana...!). Now I like this flower more than ever! Thank you for this post :-)
I do agree with you on the subject of needing the change of seasons. I really think that each season has an effect on us, and we really do sort of journey full circle throughout the year.
Buuuut I must say that I loveee your skirt! That mustard yellow colour looks fabulous on you! And the shoes are pretty killer too (;
Beautiful as always. That skirt looks wonderful on you! I've tried it on, and it just doesn't work with me. But you look great!
lovely, but when do you not look great??
i'm going to steal your wardrobe! =]
orchids have an interesting meaning, to say the least:) Oh, do look it up! Thanks for reminding me that I still need a buffalo plaid shirt!
first of all, LOVE your title ('wild hearts can't be broken' could be one of my favorite movies of all time) and secondly, i'm loving what you did with that dress/top. i'm wearing a western-inspired shirt today, but paired mine with skinny jeans and really high sandals. love your blog, btw...please let me know if you'd like to trade links!
I love the colour of the skirt, I would actually never think to put it with a shirt like that and it works so well!
Oh nice idea of pairing the AA skirt with the dress :).
your photos are extra-nice today :) i would love to lie in a bed of flowers but my hayfever is so bad that i would end up with swollen eyes for the next two days :(
Great photos as usual... it's really your accessories that always capture me. The shoes and glasses are perfect touches.
I love every look of yours- I was thinking about the melange skirt..I like the mustard color..really cute
I'm loving the skirt. I covet everything mustard-colored.
Love the dress/shirt. Plaid is so very cool....
My favorite flower is the orchid. Too bad they're so delicate. Where I live, the seasons aren't very pronounced, so it's nice to go back to college, where they at least have fall. And snow. And, to a lesser extent, spring.
Great photos. Love the one where you are in the flowers. Do you have a remote for your camera?
Great outfit kiddo:) Love the color of that skirt and belt.
xCC
I love the checked shirt. It rocks my socks...haha
the advantage in having all the seasons is that you can change your wardrobe over and over again :) i sure do enjoy it! thanks for your note & link!
I really like lilies! Well, I live in Singapore where there is only one season so I don't really know how other seasons are like!!
& I love the yellow skirt of yours, the pockets are awesome!
I'd love to learn more about flowers. Love the AA skirt on you!
What a great way to do buffalo plaid!
Ahhh pretty photos!!
My link appears to no longer be on your list? Could you re-link me please? Thankyou!!
Rainbow trees, that sounds amazing! Your mustard skirt is adorable. In other crazy news, I accidentally erased your comment on the notebook post before I had a chance to read it. I had to start moderating because a crazy person is calling me fat and ugly. The internet is such a lovely place. Thanks for the comment, and reading my blog! I would love to hear what you had to say if you have another moment.
I love that skirt a lot and have always been tempted to purchase it. The look is fantastic.
That skirt is really versatile, it looks so good with the bold print on your shirt!
I like having different seasons too, but I wish the UK had a hotter and more reliable summer!
Mustard yellow with check. Who knew it could be such a beautiful relationship? =)
I love your look! I have a black and white checkered jumper which I only wear with either a black or a white inner top and it bored me to death! You gave me an inspiration to add color!!
I love your blog!!!
Lovely photos and the outfit is perfect! I really love it :) Would you be interested in trading links?
Your skirt i really lovely. The trees in Hawaii are so pretty and when I went the light mists of rain was just the right amount of precipitation every other day.
My God, I want a Rainbow Shower Tree in my backyard!
I love your skirt, I think I'll be needing to get one.. hehe!
And where I live there aren't much of seasons either.. Although it works for me, I'd prefer sunshine-y Mediterranean weather all year round!
Great post. I saw one of the rainbow showers in Hawaii and its amazing. As much as I complain about weather here in Portlnad, I think living somewhere sunny all the time would be so boring.
Love yellow flowers, they remind me of the sun and I feel happy whenever I have flowers in the house. My favorites must be the tulip and orchid ~ so understated but so elegant.
lovely!
that skirt is cool :)))
a kiss!
You've been linked, Lovely Lady!
I love the fit of your shorts, baggy yet chic
rainbow shower trees?
they sound like something good enough for a fairytale.
love this AA skirt. I wore mine in red today, It's such a good wardrobe basic, isn't it?
After seeing you and Louise wearing that skirt, I'm now so desperate to get it. You look fantastic in it as usual, but esp with the wedges!
oh i do love the skirt. Combined with the checked shirt, it's super cute.
Adore all of your looks and I specially love the colour combination of the skirt and the squared blouse.
I love your pictures and clothes!
thanks for the redo comment ;)
aah that skirt, want want want...
as for the weather... we in the uk are blessed with totally schizophrenic weather so you get the whole host of accompanying moods during your day - from blissful sunniness to rainswept moodiness...
I adore the skirt and belt!
Mustard yellow is the best.

mmm I think your eye for color is delectable! I also appreciate your sense of season and natural happenings... if pictures had flavors, yours would taste real good.
how come everytime i see that skirt, i want it, but never actually bought it? i just love your color combination in the outfit above and think i might need to stand in a bunch of flowers more often, too.
Hi!!! thanks for the comment! That is so cool you went and made your dream come true!!! Do you speak Japanese now? I assume you did it as your study abroad? I went to Spain but, hopefully after graduation or maybe even before that I will be able to go. :)
I like your skirt. I must say as a student who goes to school in San Francisco but, is from Boston...I prefer weather changes as well.
You make me wish I could get out to Hawaii! And I adore the 3rd picture of you.
That's a great skirt, I love the pockets!
If you're still looking to exchange links, I'd be honored ;)
I love seasons as well. Being in Illinois for the winter made me truly appreciate them!

I would never think to wear a dress as a top.
I need that skirt so bad, it seems to be haunting me wherever I look!!

You always have nice pictures. I love your blog.
The flowers look pretty and so do you.
Wow! I love the colors in your photos. That outfit is perfect! It's so hot in Atlanta during this time of year that I'm tempted every morning to just wear a tank and shorts to work!
wow love the nice color pop of yellow, good contrast with the plaid!
I love your shirt!! And that skirt is too cute. How in the world do u come up with such amazing outfit ideas.

Your outfit is amazing, the brown belt is a nice touch
i know you told us already but i saw you in the july issue of vogue girl korea!!! in the world bloggers feature. :) it was nice to see a familiar face
I'm a bit of a fan of flower-lore too. I love red poppies. Those rainbow shower trees look amazing, I didn't even know that there were plants that could do that. Nature amazes me once again!
Also, thank you for including me in your links list.
another series of great photos (and one killer outfit)
I'm loving the second photo!
These are fantastic.... puts me to shame really....
Ur pics are always so nice. Love the color of the skirt.

I'm probably a little late but I would love to do a link swap with you. I'm not nearly as well-established in the blogging world as most, but these things take time I guess :) x
Hey! you are going to love this. My husband and I are working on a movie script that involves flowers and their meaning. Maybe we'll exchange notes.
My mom loved having flowers around. She always had some fresh ones in her room. In those days, we just got fresh flowers from the garden. I remember doing elaborate flower arrangements for parties.
I miss that life, you know. Slow, but relaxed. you could savor it, experience it at leisure. Now it's deadlines followed by more deadlines.
I am very much digging this outfit.
xx
this outfit is so perfect! i love the dress worn as top again, it looks particularly good with the skirt! awesome!

Everytime I see that skirt I want it. Particularly in the mustard. These are some of my favourite photos of yours, I particularly like the one of you lying amongst the flowers, the contrast with your outfit is amazing.
i would reall love to lay in a bunch of flowers.. your outfit is perfect for that!! only in cali we're having super hot desert weather where all the flowers are DEAD!
this is a bit random, i might add, but you are one of those girls who look absolutely gorgeous in glasses!
