To begin with, we start with print. A copy of "Parisiennes: A Celebration of French Women" is currently residing on my bedside to be browsed through in free moments, my nose pressed to the glossy pages as I try to absorb the details in each image. (Bonus points for listening to Edith Piaf while "studying.")
Next comes French cinema, sweeping from the romantic, to the tragic and all the musicals in between. "A Woman is A Woman," "The Young Girls of Rochefort," "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg," and "Breathless," are a few I have watched recently (of these I must name "A Woman is A Woman" as my favorite). My current screen goddess obsessions are Anna Karina and Catherine Deneuve.
Finally there is the modern street style to be enjoyed by a variety of different blogs--which I won't even begin to list.

like you're becoming, i'm a complete frenchie-lover. but when you actually scrutinise the so-called parisian chic, you can't miss that it's actually quite boring, being "classic" and undaring. i guess that it's all about attitude...

I love French style, and I would be a Francophile myself.. Except that my French teacher is a terrible lady who has completely ruined my love for French. Completely. Sigh!

I'm definitely with you on this one, there is something so simple yet chic about French girls that is hard to capture in words, perhaps that it all looks very unfussy yet beautiful. ... and the French New Wave is too much fun!
My Grandmother is French (which makes me a little bit French) so naturally I love all things French too!

before I went to France recently I was so excited because I thought that the streets would basically look like the facehunter website. But most people were just wearing something I'd see in Chicago, and I was pretty emo about it. I wonder how much of the 'french style' is mythologized. But still, I adore the idea of it!

yes, i love it too! I became obsessed with 60s french YeYe pop a few years ago and it all snowballed from there. All the Jacques Demy films are amazing too!!
I'm becoming more interested in all things parisienne, though I have been a dedicated anglophile my entire life and don't anticipate that will change!
^Anna, knowing html helps, but I just put the code in for a background rather than a color number. If you google it you can find tutorials to help, I'm afraid I'm not the best at it though.

I bought my mother "Parisiennes" for Christmas two years ago and she loved it. She's a clothes horse; a member of the Red Hat Society, primarily because it lets her dress-up in outrageous outfits all the time!
