I'm sure many of you are aware of my slight obsession with Brigitte Bardot. To me, her most inspiring look is an outfit she wears in Le Mepris. This outfit is hardly identical to that one, but it gives me a similar attitude when I wear it. I feel slightly as if I am channeling early Bardot.
There's something of French simplicity that can't be beat. I just wonder if I will ever be elegant enough to pull off the look.

I seriously adore that cardigan and your ability to always look so put together!
wow, that skirt looks INCREDIBLE on you.
thanks for the support in your comment. i hate all things christian commercialized too!
Oh my gosh, this is the closest I've come to being the first commenter ever ;) I love the colour combo in you, it looks fantastic :)
I love it. The colors are great and it seems like the cheetah print makes it more you than the original inspiration. I love the necklace, too.
It is sort of really sexy, but not so much in a naughty way, but really smart and subtle. Good job! I love it!
You are working this subtle French sophistication perfectly. Great pics!
This may be a purposeful reference that I just don't get, but shouldn't the "know" in the title be "no"?
Um, I believe you are pulling it off now! Look how great this is!
^Ha-ha, thanks Missy, I did not do that intentionally!
precious outfit; i love it.
I had half a dozen of those fish charms years ago. I've since used them all up in things that went into my Etsy shop. Wishing I'd kept a few now.
Oh gosh. If you only knew how much I love the French simplicity you mention. VIVE FRANCE!
i love this outfit - it's subtly sexy, partly achieved by wearing potentially racy elements like a pencil skirt and leopard print in an unusual colour.
The color green & red hair = perfection!
I am somewhat in love with Brigitte Bardot too! If I was that sexy, that elegant.. Oh the things I could do!
SO cute!!!
love it :)
Green leopard spots! Nice!
Congratulations re Wardrobe Remixer of the Week!
Gorgeous outfit, its such an unusual colour green. Sometimes I feel as though 'easy elegance' is something completely beyond me, but who knows? Maybe its an age thing?
Simplicity is so tough, I still have no clue most days.
oh thats very cute! i like how it's a different colour than usual leopard, skirt matches it expertly. wonderous!
The fish necklace is very nice. and i like the outfit! x
Great cardigan! I definately think you'll be able to one day achieve French sophisitcation.
You look so elegant!
The print is not self-made, but I wish it was!
Love the skirt with the cardigan :).
I think the old Brigitte Bardot is extreme nationalist. She wrote some books about how immigrants are bad for France and so on...

Oh my goodness you've got like, greeny blue leopard print! It's to die for!!!
I'd wear that every where if I owned it. The outfit is simplistic and you've pulled it off perfectly, the cardigan doesn't need a lot added to it. I'm going to go and search for one now!
Super cool cardigan, super cool necklace charm! Plus, your outfits are always sooo well put toghether!
the outfit is great! really classic..
the cardigan is fab!!
Chic and elegant outfit. And I almost got myself a similiar necklace charm, but I didn't have the money. The urge for cake was too powerful!
The skirt looks wonderful! xx
I think you've totally pulled off the look! That BR cardigan is perfect!
love the cardigan!
I Like this outfit a lot!
And also the blue one a few posts below too.
Cute outfit! Love the cut of the skirt! Really great background too!
you always do colors so well, it makes me jealous and inspired all at the same time. <3

I absolutely love this outfit...and I definitely get the whole Brigitte Bardot feel from it.
You are definitely elegant enough! The details on the cardigan are so unique & pretty!
I think you definately look Bardot-esque! :)
Green is not my favorite color but I love your outfit especially this funny necklace!
love the necklace its beautiful =]
my oh my i love everything about your outfit.so cool&chic xx
i LOVE the cardigan and it goes so well with the skirt!
I love that film too and I want to rewatch it again now that you've mentioned it! You look great as always.
You look so chic and sexy (in a good way). Great ensemble!
From all I've heard of her, Brigitte Bardot seems like a really horrible person. Everything I seem to read about her has something to do with how she hates people of a different cultural background than herself and to me that is truly despicable.
Anonymous, Bardot is very intolerant towards aliens in her home country of France. She is however tolerant to people of alternative lifestyles. This is no excuse, however I do not claim her to be an icon in her lifestyle or beliefs. Coco Chanel also had a live-in Nazi boyfriend which I find despicable. However, I do believe you can acknowledge people's style influence and outward beauty. Besides, most of my inspiration comes from characters she has played, not her own person. It's really a catch 22 for me, I can't ignore the place she has in fashion history but I'm making no allowances for her political or personal views.
IF?? Ha! You are! Totally elegant.
oooo i like your fish necklace. i saw something quite similiar to that in Accessorize the other week.
I already thought that you couldn't admire her attidude. You seem like a sensible person to me!
so sweetly chic.
you put a new twist on the classic AA bandage skirt, and a nice one at that!
Gorgeous colors......:)fun leaopard.
xCC
You don't have to worry, that outfit is very sweet and definitely has a French sensibility to it. You pull it off very well.
Gosh... you just reminded me that I have a fish necklace like this too... only mine is red.
I love the quality of your photos -the lighting is beautiful.
Love the colors, and that moving fish is great! Ma grannie has one like that too! Real adorable
I have that charm! I got it from etsy and love it dearly.
I'm a big fan of the Koi fish charms...I own 4!
Hey how old are you??
You seem to young to be dressing like a grammy don't you think?
I mean I love how you look but it would be better if you dressed up according to your age.
^Anonymous, I'm 21. Honestly, I think you could have phrased that to be less rude. And I don't think I'm dressed like a granny, last time I checked grannies didn't look good in knit pencil skirts. This is what we call discreetly sexy--just because I'm young doesn't mean I need to bare all of my flesh.
You look great! I actually have the exact same fish charm haha.
