My Virtual Garden

Lately, I have written a number of bitter diatribes, but I have resisted posting them. Certainly, I could express distaste on a wide variety of topics (sexism, hate comments, and misconceptions). However, this blog is rather like my secret garden and why should I allow my own words to bring weeds or plagues into my soil? There is enough negativity in the world, so let's hope I allow some positivity to linger here for awhile longer.

In this strain, I will not complain about the rain storm outside, but rather celebrate the cooler weather and look forward to the opportunity to layer more tomorrow. Today I took my look from day to evening by layering a cardigan over my AA U-neck dress for work.secret, garden, american, apparel, street, fashion, style, personal, theclotheshorse, the clothes horse, everyday, outfit, chic, ladylikesecret, garden, american, apparel, street, fashion, style, personal, theclotheshorse, the clothes horse, everyday, outfit, chic, ladylikesecret, garden, american, apparel, street, fashion, style, personal, theclotheshorse, the clothes horse, everyday, outfit, chic, ladylikesecret, garden, american, apparel, street, fashion, style, personal, theclotheshorse, the clothes horse, everyday, outfit, chic, ladylike

Outfit details: skirt- Forever 21, cardigan- some shop in Japan, dress- American Apparel, shoes- Urban Outfitters

P.S. Check out the temporary poll I listed on right. I'm curious to see what people think.

I love the skirt. And yay for reducing the negativity in the world.

It's funny you say that because I think the same. People read my blog and say 'wow - you are so positive'. well, not exactly, it IS positive because its MY space to keep the negativity out (as much as possible!)

oh I am in love with floral dresses!

Oh no, I guess my blog is a bit negative at times, I've got to stop that! X__x

The floral skirt is amazing! I seriously didn't know you are 21!!! I thought you were younger or the same age as me!

If I wrote what I was REALLY thinking, it would scorch the earth.
Believe it or not, I'm holding back!

That skirt and dress look FABULOUS together.

p.s. I answered your poll and I think that age is really just a number. You are incredibly classy so I really wouldn't worry about what others think!

Really cute skirt!!
Your vintage style is really really awesome!

Your poll is so difficult to answer! I can't necessarily say it's too young, too old, as I think maybe the age doesn't matter. At times, there is something youthful about how you dress, but that's youthful, not young. But there is also a maturity to your style, as it is so refined to your own aesthetic, and that can take years to cultivate.

Boo!
That last comment was me-- I somehow hit anonymous.

I love your skirt :)

And I'm not sure if diatribes are negativities.. It's just expressing your opinion on matters in a passionate tone, I think. Or maybe I just love diatribes a bit too much :P

I think you're absolutely right; with so many terrible things going on in the world, it seems pointless to write about sad things. I almost wrote a melancholy post today... but I thought against it. :]

I love the print on the skirt, as well.

I love your outfit, I love all of them! and I think you dress incredibly well for your age. Not to sound like a really old lady but there are so many girls your age who just dress terribly. (not that I should be talking I'm 14!)

Daiane said...

oh, great outfit! i voted in your poll, and said age is just a number. i think you dress incredible and you should keep it this way as long as you feel it suits you. take fabulousity on and on! kisses.
p.s. i also think style changes easily in time according to the changes that take place in each one of us. it's just the way it works, things go their own way for themselves in this cases.

You always look appropriate. And wonderful.

I voted "Eh," because I think "age" is fraught.

Funny you should mention the storm outside. I could not go to office today because it's raining continuously for the past 48 hours. I get office-sick after a few hours of staying at home. Though post the crazily hectic week, this is a welcome change.

I voted the last option, because I don't know if age specific dressing makes sense. You have an innate style that's only going to evolve if you truly follow your own mind. Sometimes I think that I put too much expectation on you, what with you being so young and all that. But then again, I know that you are quite sane and mature for your years, and have it in you to not just stand away from the pack, but lead it. Your success as a blogger is just an indication of the future successes you have the potential for.

Hang on to the positive thoughts. we all know what's wrong with our world and don't need reminding every instance.

I always try to hold back my negativity and it's quite easy on my blog, but sometimes it just comes out of my mouth when I talk...

But I dislike the hate comments and negativity all around!

eighteeneleven said...

Lots of people have expressed the same, but I think you look lovely, and it suits you. So who cares what others think/say!

Love the skirt, and the nails are super cute!

And forget if anyone says anything bad, all enmity stems from jealousy...so technically the more you get, you should take it as a sign that you're doing better and better!!!!

I'm in love with the pictures

riz said...

Wendyb that is hilarious ....Negativity is what causes us to become ill and diseased. I really do believe that kernel of new age-ish thinking.

Katia said...

Yeah, I agree on the keeping negativity away.. Even though it's always present it's best to not focus on it because then you just might turn negative and that's no fun..
I love your outfit by the way, your skirt is gorgeous and your shoes, oh my goodness, I don't even know what to say about them, they're so great

I know what you mean, I thought those models were made of plastic too.
And I love the print on this skirt, it seems to match your personality, or what I can tell of it!

this dress is really amazing!!

i love the colour of your AA dress. and it goes so well with the skirt!

i voted age is just a number, which is true, but i think you dress your age, on the whole. some outfits (like the jean jacket and skirt in "sounds like summer" are younger looking, and some more mature like "escaping mundania".
i think your style is wonderful, though, and it really is a piece of YOU, not representing anyone else but yourself, and your inspirations.

You know, I've done the same thing the past couple of months--start a ranty post and then save it, knowing I'll probably not ever publish it. Sometimes just getting the words down is all I need.
