Bright, Sunshine-y Days

Today is sweltering hot and all I want to do is lounge outside barefoot soaking up the sunshine. Everyone seems petrified that I will burn as friends, family, and coworkers urge sunscreen on me. The slimy weight of it on my skin is oppressive though and I resist. "I'm not burnt, just flushed," I insist as my skin turns pink. A shaded area should put their minds at rest. I'm not some fragile porcelain figurine although my dress might lead you to believe otherwise. If I burn, I'll heal.

OMG. I love this dress. If I knew where you lived, I might steal this dress. And haha yea it is funny that I had some shameless plugs in the same post of celebs.

That dress is amazing--you did a great job with the length. Your poses are great, too. I wish it was warm enough here to lay outside bare-legged.

You look like a ballerina!

Uck, I hate sunscreen. Even the "lightweight" kind feels gross, and when I have to slather it onto my face I feel like I've just dunked it into oil.. YUCK!

But, I don't particularly have any urge to die of skin cancer, so I suppose I'll have to suffer :|

selinaoolala said...

gosh your photos get more lovely by the day! i really love the yellow dress with the greens.
personally i slather myself in suncream as my chances of skin cancer and sun burn are so high! also 90% of skin ageing is due to the sun and i don't plan on any plastic surgery later in life!

I really love the aged quality your photos have had lately, it so perfectly suits summer, they sort of remind me of family photos from the 60s and 70s!

I hate sunscreen as well. It does not go away, and it's sticky and terribly. Neutrogena makes a spray-on sunscreen I really like though, because it does that to a minimum and for most of the day I don't notice it!

The back of the dress is so beautiful! & the bottom is just awesome, awesome & awesome! I hate sunscreen too! It is so sticky & it goes away so quickly! & we have to keep reapplying every two hours!

I have a very similar dress in lilac! Now I must break it out... You look lovely. Isn't it gunny how people treat you differently when you were lacy little vintage frocks? I've found that too.

Wear the sunscreen - cancer and aging aren't worth it. And sunburnt skin looks awful!! I'm a big pusher for people to wear sunscreen (I love the smell of it).

Nice dress though!

Sara said...

You look great. The thing is though...if you burn you won't heal. Sun damage is irreversible, even if you don't see it now, you'll be a mottled and leathery old lady. My husband is 29 and he has skin cancer. watch out!

i love your tattoo oh-so-much! and that dress is just divine.
