Strange Bedfellows

Is anyone else struck by the strange dichotomy of vintage obsession and Internet addicts? As a vintage lover myself I am constantly grateful for eBay and Etsy and online boutiques which put vintage wonders in my size right at my fingertips. But isn’t it slightly odd that the pieces of an antique past can be found and shared through one of the marvels of modern technology? Very few of my friends have even the most minor of interests in vintage fashion. Yet, nearly every blog I read (and I admit this is a somewhat selective pool) has a vintage affinity if not right out passion. So, is it not bemusing that we use our contemporary machinery to connect and share dated style?

I love vintage, but I think I'd never buy garments from websites, I just don't think it would fit perfectly, since it's already a problem to find the perfect outfit in usual stores, there's always something tight here or loose there:-S

Beautiful dress, and ur grandma's living room is the perfect scenario to photograph it!

You look great. I love vintage too but you really do have to have a good search before you find anything decent. I haven't bought anything vintage off websites yet though!

haha oh the irony! and love the dress

oooh. I like when you wear that harlequin-y dress! It reminds me of this painting at my cottage.....

I've definitely thought about the irony of vintage on the internet before. It seems funny that there are several blogs with girls who wear only vintage clothes and their whole lives seem totally old-fashioned, except for the fact that they are obsessed with blogging. Rather amusing. Nice dress.

the mix of prints is gorgeous....

i never thought about the irony of buying vintage online. i guess some people do now, or more so then before because a lot more vintage ebay tores are opening up? not necessarily GOOD ones (but i can't deny there are many) but you know... the hoopla around going green has definitely added to it. Dunno.

Just out of curiosity do you buy all your dresses from one place on ebay? I doubt it, but just wondering.

im a big fan of that dress!

it is so true, my style is more old fashioned than all of my friends, and yet I spend the most time on the internet, too.

love your dress!

yes, its quite ironic...!! p.s. that couch is crazzzy!! I use to have one just like it and was so sad when mom got rid of it :(

I've developed a new found love for vintage ever since I got into reading fashion blogs. The only problem is I since I live with my parents, I'm young, etc. etc. so I can never buy all the cute stuff off of ebay that I want to!! Shame, really :|

Interesting observation, though. I couldn't live without our lovely technology, but I feel like our culture has perhaps suffered a little because of it. Or, well, we can't just go outside and run around now, because really, who wouldn't rather stay at home and sit in front of their computer??

Anyways, cute dress/vest/everything! :] Love the checkered pattern.

Also, I think my old couch (from maybe 8 years ago, threw it away when I moved) looked a lot like yours pattern-wise!

And wow, studying abroad in Japan sounds AMAZING!! So you're pretty fluent in Japanese, yea? How fun!!! Japanese street fashion is pretty awesome... And sushi is too! Haha.

I agree! I can catch myself using hours on ebay, trendsales (dansish auction site) etc. Love vintage, because it feels special to wear something nobody owns.

I agree, but vintage and the internet seems to be a match made in heaven, don't you think? especially if it results in such lovliness as your dress!
