I am currently scrounging around street-style sites looking for "office appropriate" looks that won't want to make me shoot myself by the end of the summer. I need inspiration to avoid slipping into mundane looks. Business casual is the name of the game and any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
For the record, I am working in the Admissions Office for my college as an assistant this summer. It's a five days as week, eight hours a day, office job. Pros: I will continue to live on campus so I don't need to pay for housing, transportation, or food.

I work in a bank during the summer, and I am on the same hunt!
Thankfully I have a closet full of basics from working at GAP.
I worked in an office for 2 weeks (at a law firm, at which I subsequently got a long-term job). I lvoed mixing it up!! Obviously, on the first day I went safe with the suit, but I played about with the skirt, my necklaces and I even bought a cropped cream swing jacket (which is fab, I love it). Dresses are great too. Always make sure you have something to cover it up with, and also accessorise!
A couple of seasons ago there was a big focus on tailoring and suits, so it'll probably be around the shops now.
i absolutely have no idea myself...i always seem to be overdressed or underdressed ... bleh. lol. i really like the photo of the girl in the blue dress with the blue blazer. hot.
love the pics..and you should try the second pic..it is perfect!!!
I think i might have saved each one of these looks on my computer before. I especially loved the first one, the one with the pink coat posted on facehunter today. There's something so romantic about it. But yea I'm of no help there either. I never know what to wear for interviews or business-y type occasions either.
I always have pushed the boundaries of office attire...especially when dress codes like 'smart casual' exist...no need to be overly formal in an age when office power dressing is fading...
I think you should totally bring some ruffle skirt action (like the Sart girl)into the office!
Oh.. you can have fun with this look! I like shrunken blazers over dresses & skirts. Also trousers with embellished cardigans & flats. Then again sometimes I love all black with bright shoes! Have fun!
why not experiment with the longer skirts of next season? or check out the librarian chic of the dsquared show, possibly my favourite of the whole season! you could also go smart but in a boyish way, with braces, bow ties, waistcoats, trousers?
I don't know how similar our styles are, but I work in an office (M - F) and post my pictures every day.

(There are about 1.5 years in the archives.) Hope it helps!

maybe play it safe for the first few days, but then i reckon you could get away with a lot of the stuff you normally wear. just no denim or crazy prints, everything else should be cool. no need to go for the typical pencil-skirt-and-blouse look.
If I had pics, you know I'd share them with you!
I tend to wear a huge range of different things - but the pics you've got here are nice selection!
That first photograph is a great look, though I wouldn't recommend some big hair ornament at work.
i am in love with the last two!
i think some of your outfits would look fine in the office- i think you've worn a green dress+vest before, which might be suitable?
Love your first jacket! It seems as if it was Valentino´s!
Just discovered your cute blog!
I love the last look...blue check shirt with high waisted skirt and wine cropped cardi...looks great!
I really like the styles you chose - nice work clothes without being dull!
I love outfit number 1 with the pink coat. I think that's entirely office appropriate. I find as long as you don't reveal too much skin and you have few recognizable office staples ( i.e pencil skirt, or smart trousers) you can get a way with much more than you would usually think you could.
I have to take notes for my job outfits
Oh, awesome! I've been looking for the very same thing. Thanks for posting this!!
i suggest you not so colourfull clothes, some black and white would be good...jeans not so waisted its a good thing...but all of this depends of what you gonna do...
if you are working with people, with the public or in an office :)
a kiss and a hug!
Honestly, I've never worked in an office. But I would mainly wear: high-waisted skirts with cardis and blouses, or dresses paired with blazers...
I am a BIG fan of high-waisted skirts. I particularly love the third outfit - I think blazers are cute but sharp at the same time.
I've never worked in an office but I love that smart look but with some unexpected dash of colour, be it a pink scarf, bright shoes or a shirt with an unusual print. It makes an outfit so exciting!
Oh my goodness, I have literally bookmarked all of these pictures on my own computer, and then here I find them all in one post.
What are the odds? Love them all!
I like all those looks, my favourite is the one with the blazer. I'm sure you'll find you can get away with quite a lot, especially in the summer when people are usually more relaxed. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
I love the outfit in that last picture. It seems like most of your clothes are fairly summer office appropriate. Just stay true to your style. Ha ha, that was cheesy.
My favourite is the redhead from Garancedore I love the fresh spring dress, made more formal with the blazer and then that splash of red from that gorgeous, fabulous bag. I'm in love with that photo!
I think most of your outfits would be absolutely fine for an office.
Í'm obsessed with those looks.the last one is my favorite.the only one i don't like so much is the 1st pic
I love these pics. I'm constantly trying to spice up my work wardrobe. I've started keeping a drawer full of accessories at work that way I can change my style during the day. But right now I'm really into my black pearl necklace I got from premiumpearl.com.
i feel you!
i swear im runnig out of office apropriate looks ive been commin gin dresses and im getting sick of it.
I really like the girl on the firs picture with the pink coat.
