My Religion
I know I wear a lot of skirts and dresses, but I never gave it much thought since I used to wear a lot of pants...then one of my friends asked me if it was a religious stance to only wear skirts. I decided it was time to don some pants--I don't want to be put in a box! There are many Conservative Christian circles that believe women should only wear skirts. Ironically, as a feminist I don't believe that, but I do believe in wearing skirts as a sign of empowerment--as in I take strength from feminine attributes rather than going to traditional masculine pieces to feel powerful/authoratative.

i love the drawings you made on the shoes. it's so awesome when people make clothes their own by adding to them.
love your blog
LOVE
wow, yes it certainly seems a big deal to see you skirtless!
and I agree with you about the skirt, I wear mine for exactly the same reason-for me and nobody else.
your hair looks great here, btw.
The tousled hair is perfect with the jeans. I think the yellow shoes would be great with this outfit, too. K
I always wear dresses! If I am in jeans it's a mirical!
I love to mix it up and wear jeans as well as skirts and dresses. Looks great!
You look great in jeans!
I think I would consider wearing them as well if only they'd suit me.
I love to see you wearing pants!
you do look very nice in jeans!
i love that you bar lace your converse!
your converse are amazing!
I love the jeans and converse. Always a classic combo! I do love skirts and dresses for the same reason you do - they are so liberating! It's nice to see something different though. And your hair looks absolutely fantastic here!
I prefer skirts to trousers most days, too- but it does seem like a big change, your being skirtless :) You still look great, though- I love the look of your hair and top against the wood of the cupboard in the first photograph..
haha fun outfit, and of course awesome poses! haha, i love what you did to your converse. looks cool! haha and thats funny about the religion thing!
Thats funny! I would never have thought of that...unless your skirts were down to the ground and you only wore long sleeved, high collared things in black or something!
You look cute in jeans though...I love dark jeans and they can be hard to get sometimes. Its always good to mix it up anyway!
Gorgeous outfit!
I am SDA and there alot of them out there that only let the girls wear skirts. I always felt like it gave skirt wearers a bad name.
But I definitely still wear skirts and dresses 90% of the time. They just make me feel more myself than pants ever will.
As a little girl I made my mom put little summer frocks over my jeans and sweatshirts.
Nice bangs by the way.
Those are v. cool jeans, and I love the drawings on your shoes. I refuse to call them doodles, because to do so would minimize their value. To me.
Nice hair, Did you have it cut and newly dyed? I tend to pull on jeans when I'm having lazy days. You look great.
Nice.
I have friends who do that to their shoes too! I know someone who does that professionally for Nike. You can pay like big bucks to get your shoes painted. I wonder if that's just an urban trend though?
New Bangs cut?
Jeans are super great for just throwing on a pair for instant style.
You havent checked out my blog in a while, BTW I have added outfit posts.
Thou shalt wear jeans at least sometimes!
Does it say anywhere in the Bible that you have to wear skirts?
It's a long book, so it might.
Jeans are more practical. And the art on your shoes is great, almost like a tattoo.
wow your friend really asked you that?
crazy...
I use to wear jeans and pants only and I was so against skirts now the last year I've been a skirt and dress - a- holic!!
Your hair looks especially awesome in this pics, quite rock and roll. And aww someone else who draws on their converse. Well I didn't draw on mine per say but I used to write song lyrics on them.
Well, I wear jeans sometimes. Like, when I wake up five minutes for class and can't bother with tights. I don't really feel like me in jeans, it almost feels like some kind of emotional shield. Maybe it has something to do with me spending every waking hour of my teenage years in them hiding from the world...
I agree with previous speakers, your hair really goes with this look. You look fantastic!
I prefer wearing skirts and dresses, its just more comfy. Jeans are things I wear when I'm in a hurry or am too damn lazy to come up with a whole outfit.
You look great in yours though!
I admit I did a bit of a double take when I saw you in jeans, but I like it, give jeans some love! Haha.
Ha! As a Christian and a feminist, I've also been asked that question. I look at those people like they're speaking a foreign language and say "Pants hate hips."
I can't really say I'm a jeans person either...only because I hate the time it takes to try them on and buy them etc....
honestly you have no idea how jealous i am of your fringe! and that hoody haha
Wow, girl, we have the same hair cut! Your outfit is very pretty!
i seem to have a memory of commenting on this, but i think i only talked to myself in my head and never actually typed it out...
(did that make sense?)
anyway, first, i like the way you tie your converse and the drawings you have on them (i should've guessed, with your mad scribbling skills).
also, i totally agree with finding empowerment through femininity and wearing skirts & dresses. it took me awhile to accept that side of myself; for a long time i did not like or know how to wear skirts. now i revel in them, and the strength that they give me. (of course, i derive strength from pants, too, but if i bring that up, i'm going to launch into a never-ending monologue....)
