I feel like there should be a "Blogger Support Group," not a group to help you learn html or draft a good post, but a group that boosts your confidence. If I had received all the positive comments I get daily on my blog in high school, those years would probably have gone very differently. In day to day life I get little or no feedback on my clothes, style, or craziness; yet, I can write two posts a day (which I often do, because I seem to live more virtually than I do in reality) and receive nearly a dozen comments within twenty-four hours that are if not complimentary, then inquisitive, constructive, or intriguing. With all the positive energy most bloggers spread, how can anyone with a blog go through the day down-hearted? (I've spoken to my sister relatively about this topic and she replied, "don't you wish you had started one awhile ago?" And my response was, "Why didn't I???")
On a separate topic, I thought instead of posting a movie pick, I am posting book pick. My theory is with the holidays you have more free time--why not spend it reading? In light of the season, I suggest
Jack London. And in light of practicality I suggest a collection of his short stories--can't sit down and read an entire novel? No problem, tackle one short story at a time. His tales are thoroughly engrossing and if you're dreaming of a white Christmas, his ones set in cold locales will definitely make you fill the chill.

Love the dog in Jack London's "To Build a Fire". You and your blog are charming.

Ironically, London wrote most of his cold weather stories while in warm places (like Hawaii). He also wrote about Hawaii.
hmm i found your blog just a few days ago and you are definitely one of my favorite bloggers. your style is wonderful
yes yes, I concur there should be a blogger support group! there seem to be two extremes in the people on the Interweb either a) they are supah nice or b) they feel "this is the Internet" let me be stupidly rude for no reason...
I definitely agree, I've become so much more confident in what I wear after posting my outfits online and receiving positive feedback. It's especially good because I'm actually in high school right now and the only thing I get about my outfits are some weird stares. There really should be a blogger support group!
There should, and you should be the founder!
And thanks for the book suggestion. I've been in need of a good "me" read after all that "school" reading.
omg i totally agree...people at school think my style is weird yet if I post and outfit on a fashion forum i get compliments that make my day.
would you like to trade links?
It's just nice to have someone saying you aren't completely crap at picking out clothes, is all.
I love when someone talks about books, I love reading, wathever it is, so I'll check that out
Blogging has definitely been a very positive experience for me too. I think it really is one of the few places where like minded souls can exchange ideas, and I always feel inspired (esp. by your blog!) And I shoud check out Jack London books too, finally I'll be having some free time to read.
i love jack london's books.. they are like a great escape for reality... have a great sunday babe ;)
i added you to my blogroll. (:

you're so right! i absolutely love the blogosphere and although i still am in highschool (well really almost out of it, thank god!) i definitely should've joined earlier. although of course i have heard of people having negative experiences, in the fashion blogosphere nearly everyone is supportive. here, i can highlight certain parts of my personality without getting any backlash. for example, no one in my school is nearly as fluent in designers or movies, but here every has something to say about the latest marc jacobs dress or anything wes anderson. and then of course there's kirsten dunst, who isn't that well liked by a lot of people, but here we generally all do appreciate her. it definitely does make me really happy to recieve positive feedback for at least one thing during my day. and the more i read the more my own style improves and the more i meet people like me. blogger rocks!
oh and so does reading, i'm all for you posting on more books!
I think the same. To have a blog means to have a lot of friends and always new friends from all different countries and places, styles and ages. That is just awesome
I just wanted to say that I have read many a fashion blog in my day, and yours is my absolute favorite. I've read every entry and find your posts incredibly inspirational, especially for when I go thrifting! Keep up the great work.
(My website, incidentally, has nothing to do with fashion, but should you be curious you can find me at http://www.sheepish.org/ihatedanger/.)
oh i completely agree!
blogging gives me so much confidence that i wish people gave me in REAL life! haha
No kidding. And right back at you given all of the wonderful comments you leave as well.
that is precisely why i enjoy short stories. i rarely have the time to read a book, and if i do, i never remember what i read a week earlier.
it's weird.. i rarely give compliments in real life, but on blogs i do it often. i love the blog btw.
I just wanted to let you know I've become a big fan of your blog. I recently started reading, and it inspired me to start one of my own. It's nowhere near as interesting/entertaining as yours, but it's a start. Keep up the great work :)
This is such a good point (about the positive feedback)
It's always incredibly uplifting when people have such nice things to say, esp when it's on a post you're pleased with.
Also, I think it may be that as we are all fashion bloggers and share a love for style rather than mass produced fashion or trends, we can appreciate something a little more individual, rather than many people (like the ones I used to go to school with ) who just "don't get it".
Hmm.
This Jack London sounds rather interesting, too. Have been very into short stories recently. Be sure to find out about "Taste" by Roald Dahl. For adults, not children.
It's tantalising!
good point - blogging is kind of therapeutic for some (me!) unfortuntely i still have yet to start my vacay as i'm still writing a bloody paper!
I guess that wasn't positive energy :) But your blog is always so cheery...
i agree with your blogger support theory :)
