I don't consider my height an issue or hindrance in any way and I'm not sure I would like to be taller if I could be. To be honest most of the time I don't even consider myself smaller than other people, I rarely ever notice it. However, I saw myself in a window reflection the other day with a crowd of other people and the comparison quite shocked me! They were so much taller! But in day to day life I avoid reflections, so its not an issue.
My only concerns really about my height tend to be fashion-wise. Cropped jackets aren't always actually cropped and normal-sized garments are usually over sized. In addition I tend to stay away from things that cut off the length of my leg.
However, my height revelation via the window made me decide to do a little googling on the topic. I came up with this site, which is a support group for short people! I don't think I'll be joining, however there was an interesting list of historic short people. A few I found interesting are:
Charles Proteus Steinmetz- electrical engineer before the electrical era in America 4'0"
Edith Piaf- famous musician and singer 4'8"
Stephen Douglas- leader of the Democratic Party, ran against Abraham Lincoln only 5'0"
Milton Friedman- won the 1976 Nobel Prize for economic science also 5'0"
Dolly Parton- I don't think she needs an explanation 5'0"
Mother Teresa- 5'0"
Just a brief list of some people with interesting histories who also happened to be on the petite side. In semi-related news, I also recently discover Napoleon was actually 5'6.5" although he is usually said to be much shorter. Apparently, the measurement usually given isn't properly adjusted to reflect the differences between French and American measurement. Sometimes apparently, it is cruel to be remembered by history.

i'm 5'2" so no worries, reese witherspoon is that exact same height and she's pretty kickass. overall i've accepted my sad and sorry fate, besides it's only really obvious when you're that beyond-awkward preteen who seems to be getting zits like everyone else but not growing, once we all even out to a basic standard height and you start conversing with adults its not as noticible, plus then heels are acceptable, and i find the one advantage of being short is that you generally have the smaller foot sizes that the stores always carry even though most people never seem to be able to wear them, so i always find shoes in my size! i guess i may not be able to wear wideleg jeans, but it's ok i'm not too fond of them anway. sorry i just had a lot to say considering i'm totally get you!
btw kickass tights!
love love love the leather jacket with those tights! so darling- and what a great contrast with the innocent skirt.
Oh I'd love to be shorter. I understand the fashion issues, but I'm glad you're confident about your height! And if Edith Piaf is on that list, you're in way good company!
I really love your jacket, it's so cute!
The tights are so cool! I love them!
im about 5'3'' - go us!!!
i love your tights - so cool :)
Queen Elizabeth I, speaking through me (as she often does), says you are not short. Everyone else is over-tall.
that's interesting!!! from the pics i've seen of you, i always thought you were 5'6".
i
i love your outfit and oh, heels are an essential for me because i stand at 5'1" ><"
Hey, I've been reading your blog for a little while & it's pretty awesome. I'm 5'1" also! Actually I may be a little bit taller.. Like 5'1 & 3/4" haha.. Yay for being short! =]
I'm 5'2'' (barely), and among women I don't find myself too short at all, there are plenty who are about my height or only a tad taller. As for guys - I like them being tall, so no worries about that... ;) Being tiny fits with my aesthetic of choice as well - although perhaps it was a choice necessitated by circumstance, I'll never know. I'll never be able to find trousers that don't have to be shortened (unless I go for tall people's capris) but that's such a minor trade-off...
People are always surprised to find out I'm 5'1. I've been told I have a 'big personality' ;)
You know, the grass is always greener. I'm 5'10" and would love to be shorter. And to wear heels! Oh, I dream of such things. Anyhow, that is probably THE PERFECT leather jacket. Love the outfit.
